The Mount Isa Hospital Auxiliary is calling for new members to join its dedicated team and help make a positive impact on patient care at Mount Isa Hospital. As a registered charity, the Auxiliary plays a crucial role in raising funds to provide much-needed equipment and items that enhance the experience for patients and staff across various hospital wards. 

With the support of the community, the Auxiliary has made significant contributions to patient care by providing essential equipment and items across various hospital wards. 

From supplying cots, beds, and playground equipment for the Paediatrics Ward to creating a comfortable living area for dementia patients in the Medical Ward, the Auxiliary’s efforts have directly enhanced patient and staff experiences. 

They have also supported the Midwifery Group with measuring mats for infants and improved the Emergency Department’s interview room with new furniture.

Treasurer Lisa Mihajlovic, a proud member of the Auxiliary for twelve years, shared her thoughts on the rewarding nature of the role.

"Being part of the Auxiliary is a wonderful way to give back to the community. We work closely with hospital staff to identify needs and ensure that our efforts directly improve the quality of care for patients. Whether it’s buying cots for the Paediatrics Ward or furniture for dementia patients, every contribution makes a real difference,” Mrs Mihajlovic said.

The Auxiliary also brings joy to hospital staff and patients by assisting with judging and providing prizes for the health service-wide Christmas decorating competition, making the hospital a festive and welcoming place during the holiday season.
