COVID-19 new case update

31st December 2021

North West Hospital and Health Service (North West HHS) has confirmed a total of 9 active  COVID-19 cases in Mount Isa and one active case in Cloncurry as of 11am Friday 31 December.

17 positive cases are receiving clinical support as require and two have been transferred to Townsville Hospital.  The North Queensland Virtual Ward allows positive cases to remain in their home while continuing to access clinical information and support.

Community members are reminded to continue to check the Queensland Health Contact Tracing website as new exposure sites continue to be updated for Queensland and other States.  The dedicated COVID-19 website also contains information in relation to testing and current public health and face mask requirements.

The Buchanan Park drive-through testing clinic is open until 4.30pm today Friday 31 December 2021.  Community members should remain in their car and follow the direction of staff members who are there to assist them.

The North West HHS COVID-19 vaccination centre at the Mount Isa Civic Centre in West Street will be open until 4pm today Friday 31 December, prior to recommencement of vaccination clinics from Tuesday 4 January 2022.

It is essential that all community members maintain social distancing, practice good hygiene, wear a face mask where required and get the COVID-19 vaccination.

North West residents are encouraged to call 134 COVID (13 42 68) with any concerns and are urged to regularly check the Queensland Health website for more information and possible exposure locations.
