North West HHS to host garage sale for iconic night club memorabilia
North West Hospital and Health Service (North West HHS) is excited to announce a unique garage sale event to be held on Saturday, 3rd August, from 8am to 12pm.
This special event offers the community a chance to purchase memorabilia, household, and hospitality goods from the former business "The Club" on Isa Street before its demolition.
With everything on offer from hardwood timber bar tops, beer and cocktail glasses, and iconic signage, all funds raised from the sale will go directly towards the refurbishment of staff accommodation and facilities.
North West HHS Chief Executive Sean Birgan said the purchase of the property, due to its close proximity to the hospital campus in Mount Isa, holds significant potential for future redevelopment, driven by the strategic importance of the location and the critical need for expanded mental health services in the region.
"Some of our services, particularly our mental health service, are under significant pressure and unfortunately, across the state and the country, and certainly here in the North West, there is a great need,” he said.
“With that, you need property, people, office space, and clinical consulting space. This block of land, approximately 4100 square metres, presents a great opportunity for future development.”
The existing building on the site is beyond use, with significant issues including leakage, dilapidation, and asbestos. As such, it has been boarded up for safety. Mr Birgan said the planned demolition will clear the way for future projects on the 4100 square metre block.
"Our intention and plan is to demolish the existing building, remove all the infrastructure on that site, and have a vacant block of land ready for future redevelopment," Mr Birgan said.
The garage sale will feature a variety of items, providing a nostalgic trip down memory lane for many in the community while supporting a worthy cause. In addition to the sale, there will be a sausage sizzle, adding to the community spirit of the event.
We invite all community members to join us on Saturday, 3rd August, from 8am to 12pm on site of the former "The Club" on Isa Street. Your participation and support will contribute significantly to enhancing the facilities for our dedicated staff.
