Due to the increased demand for the Mount Isa Civic Centre as a function space leading into the Christmas period, the Mount Isa Vaccination Clinic will be moving back to the Mount Isa Hospital grounds.

The initial administration of COVID-19 vaccinations occurred out of the purpose-built vaccination clinic at the hospital, so the facility is well equipped and prepared to commence administering COVID-19 vaccines from Monday 8 November.

Since opening the Mount Isa Civic Centre hub in July, more than 10,000 doses have been administered at this location alone.

North West Hospital and Health Service Acting CE Dr Karen Murphy expressed her gratitude to Mayor Danielle Slade  and Mount Isa City Council for their ongoing support of the vaccination rollout in the North West.

“The Mount Isa Civic Centre has been a fantastic central location for the Mount Isa community to come along and get vaccinated. Our sincere thanks to Mayor Slade and Council for being so accommodating to the needs of the vaccination rollout,” Dr Murphy said.

“With just seven weeks until December 17 when Queensland opens its borders, now is the time to come and get your vaccine to ensure you are protected. The process remains simple, with the same friendly staff, so call to book an appointment or walk-in to the clinic.”

The hospital vaccination clinic will operate from Monday to Friday out of the Amenities Building at the Mount Isa Hospital and will be clearly signed. The Kmart pop-up clinic will continue to run weekly on Saturdays.

The last day for vaccinations at the Civic Centre location will be Friday 5 November.

Appointments can continue to be made through the Vaccination Hotline on 1800 551 552 and walk-ins are also welcomed at the Mount Isa Hospital Vaccination Clinic.
