North West HHS launches community consultation for maternity review
North West Hospital and Health Service is set to embark on an online and in-person consultation project to help set the future of maternity care throughout the region.
Acting CE Sean Birgan said the aim of the maternity review was to ensure the health service establishes models of care that are in line with best practice standards, consumer and local area needs.
“We’ve employed a dedicated maternity project officer from outside the health service to undertake this review and we encourage as many consumers as possible to share their valuable experiences and suggestion with us,” Mr Birgan said.
“Our maternity project officer will be travelling to some of our communities to speak with consumers about maternity services and help to shape the future of maternity care using a collaborative approach with consumers, the community, and the health service.”
Maternity project officer Lyn Zeller will be starting community consultation from this Friday, with an online feedback option available region-wide.
“I’d like to encourage patients to give their feedback about the maternity care received, including their antenatal, birthing and postnatal care,” Ms Zeller said.
Ms Zeller said a section on the health service website was now available for consumers to give feedback: https://www.northwest.health.qld.gov.au/opportunities/maternity-review-project/
